Natural Remedy for Eczema - Tried and True!

At the age of 1 year old, my daughter developed eczema on her wrists, as well as in and around her elbows.  It wasn't an "extreme" case, but it was not something I knew much about, so it was definitely a big deal to me. Sometimes the skin was red and bumpy, and other times it was extremely dry, scaly and irritated.  She was constantly itching and uncomfortable.

Over the passed 4 years, she tried everything from prescription steroidal creams/ointments (which only cleared it up temporarily) to colloidal oatmeal baths (for mild relief).  I covered her in skin creams and lotions, Weleda Skin Food helped a bit.  I've even tried "painting" her with various oils like olive oil, coconut oil, and kukui nut oil.  After a quick and easy skin allergy test at the allergist, I discovered that she had a slight allergy to tree nuts and shell fish.  That would explain why anything with coconut oil would make her skin more red and irritated!

I didn't want her to have to depend on steroids to give her relief, so I researched the wonderful world wide web, and came across the solution that changed our lives!  Dead Sea Mud.  It may sound disgusting and ridiculous, having to slather mud all over my daughter, but after a couple uses, her skin was clear and free of any itching, dryness, or red irritations.  Simply apply the mud, let it completely dry and rinse off in the shower.  My daughter has a blast covering herself in mud (what kid wouldn't?!) I also add Dead Sea salts to her bath to help it even more.  It's a very fine grain and dissolves quickly - great for relaxation and muscle pains/aches too!

I was amazed at how well this mud works that I had to write about it.  I'm still amazed!  I'm not trying to sell you anything, just simply putting helpful information out there to others who are looking for a natural remedy to eczema.  I've been there, done that and finally found something that works... without having to let chemicals absorb into my daughter's skin.

I purchased all of my Dead Sea products at Cleopatra's Choice.  And right now may be a good time to try it. If you use coupon code GIVEME20, you can score 20% off of everything on the site. (offer expires 2/15)  Free shipping on orders over $49.  AND if you shop through your ebates account (go here to learn more about ebates) and save an additional 4.5%!

The Adovia Dead Sea Mud Soap is great too and that always ships for free.  Only $9.95 per bar.

Please consult your physician before stopping or starting a medical treatment.  As you can see on Cleopatra's Choice, there are many excellent reviews about products from the Dead Sea for eczema remedies.  This is an all natural treatment, however some people may have more extreme cases, so please proceed with good judgement.  I hope this post will help someone!
